This book presents a show and a project that started in November 2015. Its first aim was to try to find a positive answer to the Syrian refugee crisis by Syrian artists.
The second was to help Syrian artists newly arrived in Paris to meet the French public, and to sell their works. The gains of the sales were shared 50% between the artist and two humanitarian projects that we chose to support: a maternity ward in Kafr Hamra (North of Aleppo) and a School-tent in Lebanon.
The outcome of the show was beyond our expectations, as we have succeeded in putting many artists in contact with French artists and the French public. As a result some of Syrian artist will be hosted in art studios of French artists. Another show is planned in the French city of Bourges (March 2016). Furthermore we were able to raise 15,000 euros in 3 days to support the Syrian crisis.
We would like this show to be replicated all over France, as we truly believe it can sway public opinion. In other words, it can make people see refugees not only as victims of war but rather to see the strength of their creativity.
We very much appreciated the work of The Mosaic Rooms in London, and would like to know if you are interested in such a show. We are open to any other suggestions that you can make to adapt the show to the British public.
